We are sailors who fell in love with Zanzibar and built a professional catamaran base here, with our own technical team, local crew and moorings around the archipelago. Week charters, cabin cruises and day trips, all year round.
Our story
Sailors first, then a fleet operator
Before Zanzibar, our team spent years chartering yachts in the Caribbean, Croatia and the Seychelles.
Then we discovered Zanzibar: a young yachting area with wild islands, empty sandbanks, coral reefs and warm water all year round. So we decided to stay and build our own charter base here.
Today Yachtsun Charter is the largest yacht fleet operator in Zanzibar. We run our own base at Azam Marina, our own technical service and the only dedicated marine parts store on the island. Every catamaran sails with a permanent two-person local crew who know these waters better than any chart.

Everything you need for a carefree charter
A local deckhand on board
Charts here are imprecise and tides are big, so every yacht sails with one of our deckhands. He knows the anchorages, tides and local customs, helps with anchor, sails and dinghy, and is your guide ashore. Prefer more help? Add a skipper or a chef.
Modern catamarans
Four catamarans, refitted in 2025 and 2026, plus a brand-new 2026 Leopard 46. Every yacht has a watermaker, generator and air conditioning.
24/7 technical service
Three technicians on site and the best-equipped marine parts warehouse in Zanzibar. If something needs fixing, we fix it fast, so your holiday goes on.
Safety first
Navigation systems, life rafts, life vests and rings, emergency lights and fire-fighting equipment on every yacht, and a safety briefing before departure. Our yachts and captains are insured.
Our own moorings
Two moorings in front of the Stone Town promenade and two in Dar es Salaam, next to Hotel Slipway. Easy stops for you, and no anchors dropped on the coral.
Kind to the ocean
Solar panels, watermakers instead of plastic bottles, minimal waste and as much sailing as possible instead of motoring. We want these islands to stay wild.

Our charters start at Azam Marina, next to Verde Hotel, the fastest-developing marina in Tanzania and just about 10 km from Zanzibar airport.
